Myanmar government compensates 8 million kyats for victims of anti-Muslim attack

– Regional government of Magway Division, central Myanmar, has provided compensation for the victims of last month anti-Muslim attacks, local media reported.

Chief Minister of Magway Region, members of parliament, township administrator and other respective authorities along with fourteen Muslim victims of September 10 attack in Taungdwingyi township have attended the ceremony held in conference hall of Township Administration Department on October 1.

Depending on the scale of destruction, eight million kyats compensation was distributed to Muslim victims.

In September 10 late night attack by a mob of fifty people lasted for two hours and more than twenty shops and building owned by local Muslims have been destroyed.

Local police department tried quickly to control the situation and arrests have been made later.
