80,000 people protest against OIC at Sittwe despite police permit allow only up to 500 people.

About 80,000 Rakhine residents including Buddhist monks protested against OIC delegation who are visiting violence affected area in Rakhine State. OIC delegation was invited by Myanmar government to have first hand look at situation in Rakhine State where more than 100,000 Rohingya Muslims were displaced.U Maung Nu, a protest leader told Mizzima News that, When OIC delegation arrived at Sittwe airport,Rakhine State around 80,000 people waiting there to protest against OIC visit told on 15 November.

U Win Myine, secretary of Rakhine State government information committee said to Mizzima News, “I am here to observe protest of these residents, they can freely express their wish. It is alright so long as the protest don’t lead to riot”.

The irony is riot control act (section 144) which prohibit to gather more than 5 people and going out at night still in enforced till today since June 2012 violence which displaced most of Muslims residents in Sittwe and other townships in Rakhine State.

According to permit to protest issued by local police force, it allowed only up to 500 people to participate in protest. However there are more than 80,000 people during the protest.
