The story which was used by terrorists to instigate the public during early July terrorist violence against Muslims in Mandalay was exposed as a false allegation, according to the state media. It was announced on 88.9 FM radio and MRTV news that the investigation found out that the accusers made up the story of rape and opened the case. After revealing it as a false allegation, the court dropped the case.
This news was first published by Tint Htoo Lwin blog. Then, 969 chief monk Wirathu from Mandalay Ma Soe Yain monastery shared and promoted this rumor which led to deadly violence in Mandalay. During the violence, two people were killed.
