A homemade mine was found beside Nyein Chan (Peace) Youth Development and Volunteer Home in Pyi Taw Aye Street, Seint Pan Ward, Taunggyi at about 1:00 PM today. It was destroyed by being exploded by authorities at that place.

“It happens immediately beside the orphanage but not inside. The news about bomb explosion is not true. I’ ve heard that it is a homemade mine. Military mine clearance experts have destroyed it there. No one has got injuries. We haven’t known yet who is the criminal. Authorities in Taunggyi are investigating the case”, a Taunggyi resident told M-Media.

He added further that the authorities chose a football ground in the compound of the orphanage as a safe place to destroy the mine. Then, they dug a hole there and destroyed it systematically by using sandbags.

In this orphanage, there are about 100 disadvantaged Muslim orphans, who come from various parts of the country. Of them, about 60 children are middle school students. Before registration, only religious studies were taught as a Muslim orphanage. After registration, the orphanage offers basic education as well.
